848 women from across the UK from all industries shared what happened to their careers after they had children. We interrogated it, analysed it and drew many conclusions.

The Careers After Babies report is the result.

the findings were astounding

  • 85% of women leave the full-time workforce within three years of having their first child, and 19% leave work completely, because businesses aren’t offering the flexibility needed

  • The number of female managers drops by 32% after having children, and the number of admin roles increases by 44% showing women are being forced into lesser-skilled roles

  • 44% of women are earning less than they were before they had children and it's taking more than 10 years for their careers to recover

The disparity between what parents need and what businesses are offering is vast. Parents are being forced to fight to keep their jobs. This fight begins with maternity leave and ends with equal access to career development opportunities.

Parents need businesses to commit to changing their culture to suit everyone, not just the few, recognising the value that creates.
